There will be nine house types to choose from, all linked by a similar style, designed by architects Woods Bagot, and are certainly not your usual holiday villa styles.

These buildings were perfectly suited to the climate and landscape with an integration of natural stone, internal high-walled courtyards for shade, natural ventilation and single pitched roofs. The finished designs are uncompromisingly modern and look like they would be at home on an episode of Grand Designs.

Swimming pools appear to emerge from inside the house, natural ventilation and air flow worked into the design means carbon costly air conditioning becomes less necessary and water is recycled throughout.

The smallest three-bedroom homes here start at around the 1m mark and the largest homes are likely to cost nearer the 2m mark, with added extras such as an optional guesthouse in the garden.

But going from the plans of the houses and the views from the site, which stretch for miles to the sea and over the mountains, the end result will be a fantastic development, unique to this part of the world.
